Meet David Ross of Ross Medical Group in Kendall

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Ross.

David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our practice started in 1995, with my father, Dr. Michael Ross serving as the solo-practitioner and my mother, Mrs. Zaida Ross as the office manager. A true “family owned” family medicine office, their vision was to create a practice where the patient came first and where we could offer the highest quality medical care. They wanted our office to feel more like “home” and where patients could feel comfortable coming to see the doctor. They also knew how hard it was for patients, given the changing landscape of medicine, to get all of the testing and studies done that the doctor had ordered before their follow up appointments. They wanted to be able to offer as many services to our patients so that it was convenient for them.

With countless hours and hard work put in over the many years, they have been able to build a thriving medical practice that offers many services that you cannot find at any other primary care offices. Along the way, they have been able to add some key team members (including Dr. Luis Castro and my sister, Dr. Monica Ross) that shared their vision.

I am excited to be one of those team members at Ross Medical Group. I recently received my Board Certification in Sports Medicine after completing a Fellowship with the University of Pennsylvania in its Primary Care Sports Medicine program, before moving back home to Miami. I am excited to bring my experience in sports medicine-based treatment to athletes across the entire spectrum of age, sport and skill levels.

Most recently, I served as an Assistant Team Physician with the National Hockey League’s Philadelphia Flyers and the National Football League’s Philadelphia Eagles, providing his services throughout the team’s training camp, preseason, regular season and offseason during 2016-2017. I was also the Team Physician for the University of Pennsylvania’s NCAA Division 1 Men’s and Women’s Varsity teams, including Football, Basketball, Lacrosse, and Track, and Field, among others during my time in Philadelphia. I also have experience caring for athletes during the Philadelphia Marathon, Triathlon, and the Special Olympics.

I always knew I would return to Miami and join my family’s medical practice after moving out of Miami for college and medical school. I can wholeheartedly say that I am so excited to be back in Miami and working with my parents and sister and to be helping my South Florida community stay healthy!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The changing landscape of medicine has required us to adapt our practice in many ways, but we still offer the same high-quality medical care and services that we have been providing since my mother and father started the practice back in 1995. We continue to expand the medical services we offer in ways that we think can best benefit the health of our patients.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ross Medical Group – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our office is a family owned and operated Family Medicine and Sports Medicine practice. We specialize in treating the entire family (from one day old, to 100+ years old!) and in providing the highest quality medical care in a friendly and comfortable environment. We operate out of a state of the art facility but offer “old fashioned” care.

Our Board Certified Family Medicine Doctors include myself, my father, Dr. Michael Ross and Dr. Luis Castro. We strive to take the time we need to listen to our patients and to help them heal and get better. We have full scope Laboratory and Diagnostic services in-house, as well as XRay services. What sets us apart is that we treat our patients like our family and focus on not only giving excellent medical care but also friendly and professional service.

We can offer our patients many of their results right on the spot, and our patients can have many of the tests and services the doctor’s order right here in our office, which saves them time and helps streamline the delivery of quality medical care.

We are most proud of our patients. What makes us happy is when we can help our patients feel better. The reason why our doctors went into practice and the reasons why our staff enjoys working in this environment is to see our patients heal and get better. We are proud of the excellent care that we can deliver, but when our patients feel good, we feel good.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are happy to have just opened our Sports Medicine and Physical therapy Division in a brand new state of the art practice that will provide full scope Sports Medicine services and a large Physical therapy gym. Our newly opened Primary Care Sports Medicine division strives to offer a full array of evaluation and treatment services to professional, amateur and recreational athletes of all ages and skill levels.

Our Physical Therapist is my sister, Dr. Monica Ross, and we work together to provide seamless diagnosis and treatment for our patients in the Sports Medicine practice. Areas of specialization are common overuse and sports-related conditions and injuries. We also offer comprehensive concussion evaluation and management, pre-participation physical exams for athletes of all ages, ultrasound-guided joint injections and aspirations, viscosupplementation injections, PRP injections, bracing and splinting, in-house X-rays and testing for Exercise-Induced Compartment Syndrome are all a part of our offerings.

We are looking forward to growing our Family Medicine, Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy practice further and to continue to offer seamless medical care for the entire family. Our goal is to help our patients get better!
