Allergy Testing and Treatment at Ross Medical Group

More than 50 million people in the United States have allergies. Finding out what you are allergic to is an important first step to effective allergy treatment. Today allergy tests are more convenient and accurate than ever before. When combined with a detailed medical history, allergy testing can identify the specific things that trigger your allergic reactions.

At Ross Medical Group, we offer three kinds of allergy testing:

– Skin testing – The test is performed on the back or forearm. Forty Eight (48) suspected food and environmental allergens are tested at the same time. Results for this test are available the same day and are covered by most insurance companies.

– RAST (A radioallergosorbent test) – The RAST test is a blood test used to identify food sensitivities and environmental allergens.  Blood is drawn and sent to a lab for analysis.  Results are turned within 7-10 days.  A follow up visit to the office is required to discuss your results and treatment plan.

– ALCAT (antigen leukocyte antibody test) – The ALCAT test is a blood test for food sensitivities that cause inflammation and chronic activation of the immune system due to food intolerance.  These food allergies are linked to Digestive disorders, Migraines, Obesity, Chronic Fatigue, ADD/ADHD, Aching Joints, Skin Disorders, Arthritis and many more.  Results take two weeks and a follow up.  There are several tests available and the physician will order the one that is appropriate based on your symptoms.

In order to treat your allergies, Ross Medical Group offers Allergen immunotherapy, also known as allergy shots, is a form of long-term treatment that decreases symptoms for many people with allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, conjunctivitis (eye allergy), and stinging insect allergy or food allergies.

Allergy shots decrease sensitivity to allergens and often lead to lasting relief of allergy symptoms even after treatment is stopped. This makes it a cost-effective, beneficial treatment approach for many people.

Call Ross Medical Group at 305-279-7677 and make your appointment speak with one of our physicians about allergy testing and allergen immunotherapy! We offer early and late hours including Saturdays for allergy treatment and testing.  We also offer CareCredit as a payment plan for instances where insurance may not cover cost of testing/treatment.

We look forward to taking care of you and helping you through this allergy season!
